I love all the doilies that pop up around Valentine’s Day.

They are so pretty and fun to use on cards and as decorations.  I know they are super cheap to buy, but if you are looking for some last minute homemade Valentine fun, grab some construction paper, scissors, and a hole punch and make your own.

They are super easy and you can get as creative as you’d like.  I started by folding a piece of construction paper in half and cutting a heart out of it. Then I pretended I was making snow flakes and cut shapes out of the middle.

I used a hole punch to create a pretty doily effect.

For the more detailed cuts I just folded it in half again.

Here’s what the snowflake heart looks like all folded  up.

We have them strung over our kitchen table as decoration for our Valentine exchange family party tonight.

Kids can make them too.

(See the little splash of paint on the wall to the right of my wall heart? That’s my new paint color, hoping to get it painted soon.)

Happy Valentines Day!
